We desire for all articles to be seeker friendly. These are all definitions that writers are welcome to use in their articles to make the language more friendly to non-believers.
accept Christ: believe that Jesus Christ is real and decide to live out what the bible teaches
anointed: given a special position by God, been given the power of the Holy Spirit to discern truth (1 John 2:18-27)
blessing: given a helpful gift, answer to prayer, treat, gift
blood of Christ: Jesus’ death on the cross
born again: now a Christian, started living different from the way you used to be
break your heart for: to care deeply about
called: led, directed, destined; feel that God is asking you to do something specific,
convicted: struck, understood, feel sorry for something
disciple: someone who believes what Jesus taught
dwell: live in, a short pause, ponder, think
faith: meaningful belief, believe that Jesus died and rose from the dead
favor: good attention from God
found: rescued by God
found the Lord: chose to believe that Jesus was real
glorify God: thank God, express love to God
glory: fame,honor
God’s time: When God decides that something should happen
Gospel: the good news that Jesus loves people and died for them, books of the bible about Jesus
Grace: A second chance, A free gift, getting something you don’t deserve.
holy spirit: spiritual conscience. The part of God that lives inside of us who guides us, prays on our behalf etc…
kingdom of God: Jesus’ world, God’s perfect world,
lost: rebel against God,
new birth: becoming a Christina, changing the way you live, a different life after becoming a Christian
on fire for the Lord, fired up: excited, newly motivated
praise: thank, admire,
prayer: talk to God, talk with God, ask God for help
press in: get closer with, learn more
rebuke: warn, punish , reprimand
redemption, redeemed: rescued by Jesus from our messy past and offered a new future
repentance, repent: apologize and change, Say sorry fordisobeying what God wanted and decide to change
sacrifice: selflessness, give up
salvation: rescue, save, deliverance
sanctified: changed, made better
saved: Christian, believe in Jesus
savior: Jesus, the one who rescued us from God’s punishment
sin: guilt before God,actions that reject God, (bad actions, bad thoughts, harmful words…)
spiritually: non materially, Godly
spiritual: religious,interaction with God, the way you experience God in every day life
testimony: personal story ( about how Jesus changed you, a way God worked unexpectedly)
trials and tribulations: hard times (a time when you did not believe God was real, a time when someone hurt you)
walk with God: process of learning about God, interaction with God, way you relate to God,
witness: to display what you believe, tell people what you believe
worship: thank, honor, sing songs, pray
